This section on forechecking systems is going to be quite technical but we think in there somewhere is the right fit for your team. We’re going to look at a number of different systems and tactics against all sorts of breakouts.

Forechecking Systems

  • 1-2-2 forecheck
  • 2-1-2 forecheck
  • 2-3 forecheck, also known as the left lane lock.
  • Swedish style of a 2-3, where the defensemen are really active on the blue line.
  • Controlled forechecks when the other team is set up behind their own net.

In all of these scenarios we’re going to address these forechecks against these breakouts…

  • Quick up
  • D to D
  • Wheel
  • Reverse
  • Rim

So how do these different forechecking systems apply depending on what the opposition does, so you can have your system and no matter how the team breaks out you know who’s going, who’s recovering, who’s pinching who’s not and how to adjust so this is quite a technical section and we’re really looking forward to diving right into it!

Will see you in the next video!
