Read on to see how we learned from our early mistakes in the Leslie Coaching Academy to build one of the internet’s only curriculum based hockey coach training courses designed to teach you the details of the game that only hockey coaches will decades of high level playing and coaching experience can truly know.
Back in 2011 we launched the Leslie Hockey Coaching Academy, a series of live webinars teaching the game of hockey. I thought I was so ahead of the curve! I was right, but wrong. We quickly learned from our mistakes, realizing minor hockey coaches wanted/needed on demand training, not pre-scheduled webinars that didn’t fit their own schedules, or didn’t cover the topics they wanted for months to come. Back to the drawing board we went, and How to Play Hockey was born, an online hockey coaching training course for youth coaches and adult recreational players keen to better understand the hockey tactics, terminology, systems and theory of the game. 2 years into our relaunch we have minor hockey coaches all over the world (USA, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Hungary, Romania, England, to name a few) logging into the training course in dressing rooms, on holiday, at work, on the bus, and in their homes.
To develop our How to Play Hockey course curriculum we tapped deeply into our extensive hockey network,to every corner of the planet, from the NHL to Dubai, from Switzerland to Manitoba, from Washington DC to Russia to package together over 100 curriculum based video tutorials designed to teach you the tactics, terminology, theories, and systems of hockey.
