I am very excited to announce that we will be running our first official Leslie Coaching Academy Sessions on Tuesdays in April and May, 2011. As Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings supports, coaches need “strategies necessary for success, and players…[need] advice to help them understand the demands of the game and their roles within the specific systems and strategies that coaches ask them to perform on the ice” (Johnson, Walter, 2010)*. Boe and I strongly believe in focusing on skill development while on the ice. For this reason the Leslie Coaching Academy is a perfect supplement to on-ice training for players and coaches. The Academy sessions will focus on the globally accepted tactics, strategies, and systems we have learned and continue to study in our lifelong pursuit of growth and development within the game of hockey.
We will present the spring semester in two separate groups:
Group One:
Target Group: Players with a novice-intermediate knowledge of the game. We feel the sessions will best suite players playing Atom/Squirt and older. We highly recommend the player sessions to novice-intermediate adult players as well.
Time: 5-6pm Pacific Standard Time (8pm on the East Coast of the USA).
Group Two:
Target Group: Coaches with a novice to intermediate understanding of the game.
Time: 6:15-7:30pm Pacific Standard Time (9:15-10:30pm on the East Coast of the USA).
Feedback so far has been exteremely positive, and we can’t wait to get started. Please sign up for our newsletter to make sure you receive the registration information and curriculum.
