Learn how to do this! The more tricks you have in your bag, the more offensive options you’ll see on the ice. Traditional coaches seem to hate the saucer pass as it can increase margin for error. I disagree. If all that is stopping you from scoring is a little saucer over an opponent’s stick, then do it! Disclaimer: If you don’t need to saucer the pass, then don’t!

The easiest way to make a saucer pass to to cup the puck along the heel of your blade, putting pressure down on the puck. As you sweep the puck along your blade towards the toe you open up the face of your blade. It takes some grace to make the pass, but the more you practice the easier it becomes. It’s called a saucer pass because it’s spinning like a saucer.
